This review reflects only my personal experience and subjective opinions. Others have had different experiences as shallow-positive reviews on Wessel's website demonstrates. My experience with Wessel Juristen did not meet my expectations. During the courtroom process, I personally felt that the representation was weak, not effective, and I left the case feeling discouraged by the outcome. Some points I feel are important to share from my perspective: • Courtroom representation: In my personal view, the approach during the hearing felt weak, less effective and less assertive than I expected based on earlier discussions. • Billing and time spent: I had concerns about how some billed activities aligned with what I understood to be necessary for my case. This is my subjective impression, but it contributed to my overall dissatisfaction. • Communication and expectations: From my perspective, the communication and explanations leading up to the hearing did not reflect the actual strategy or outcome. This may simply reflect a mismatch between my expectations and the firm’s approach. • Costs and final invoice: The final expenses were higher than I had anticipated. I recognize this may be due to the nature of legal work, but I didn’t feel like they were aligned with the service I received. • Post-case communication: After the case concluded, I personally felt there was limited follow-up or guidance, which added to my frustration. However, they have exhibited great strength with demanding payment! Overall, this experience left me feeling very disappointed, with higher costs, a result that I had not been prepared for, and regret. I strongly recommend that potential clients ask detailed questions in advance, make sure expectations are aligned, and thoroughly discuss scope, communication style, and cost estimates before choosing any legal representative.

My experience with Wessel Juristen was unfortunately downright disappointing. The substantive quality of the work was limited: a lot of time was required for relatively simple adjustments, while the added value was low. Communication was slow and difficult. To my surprise, we and even the opposing party, a lawyer, had to edit several documents before they were legally valid. This speaks volumes about the quality of the documents delivered and is disproportionate to the number of hours spent reviewing the file and drafting all the documents. Furthermore, I am still waiting for a full timesheet, even though their own terms and conditions state that this must be provided upon request. Despite several requests, this has not yet been provided. When I requested transparency about the hours spent and the content of the work, it was not handled professionally. Instead, I was confronted with threats of additional legal costs and fines if we did not pay, and the work was halted. This is particularly galling because I was involved in an ongoing legal dispute for which I had engaged their assistance. Instead of receiving support, I ended up in a new conflict with my own lawyer simply because I asked for an explanation of their billing and hours. It also turns out that Wessel Juristen are not lawyers and (as far as I could verify) are not registered with the Dutch Register of Lawyers (NRvJ). This means there is no independent complaints office or disciplinary law to review or correct such situations. My advice to others: Always request a written quote and hourly limit in advance. Check whether the lawyer is affiliated with a recognized professional organization (such as the Netherlands Bar Association or the NRvJ). Regularly request timesheets and progress reports, and be alert to signs of ambiguity or defensive communication. My conclusion: a firm that should consider transparency and fairness as basic requirements has ignored them. This is particularly worrying for a firm that is supposed to represent legal reliability.

The final service costs were considerably higher than the estimate given during the initial consultation. During that consultation, an estimate of around €1,000 was given, based on my requirements. However, in reality, I paid over €2,000, even though my requirements remained unchanged. I carefully reviewed the time tracking overview. It appears that all emails sent to me or that I sent to the lawyer, even simple ones that only took a few seconds to read (e.g., a thank you note), were billed as 0.1 hour. While I am satisfied with the final agreement, I paid more than twice as much as stated in the quote.
