When we finalized the purchase of our house, we went to Van den Berg on the recommendation of our contractor. We first looked around and then had a follow-up meeting where we chose our bathroom. During the meeting, we made a change because we found an electric heater with a remote control too expensive, so we opted for one without one. We also discussed returning any leftovers, such as the tiles and adhesive that Van den Berg had calculated. The agreement was that Van den Berg would deliver on the agreed-upon date and contact us the week before. However, they stipulated that payment be made in advance. Unfortunately, we had some problems with our construction fund and therefore asked if we could pay a little later, but this wasn't an option. Ultimately, everything worked out, and we paid promptly before everything was delivered as agreed. On the day of delivery, we received a call that the driver had an accident and couldn't deliver on time. This meant everything would arrive the next day. I explained that it was very inconvenient, but that we also needed the items. According to Van den Berg, we didn't need everything right away, so we could pick up the items we needed ourselves, as they were very busy. I picked up some items myself; there was little sign of busyness; there were 5-6 employees there having coffee and discussing the weekend. The next day, in the afternoon (even though we had agreed to meet in the morning), the delivery driver arrived with the items. Everything was neatly brought upstairs, and everything was fine. There was one package of broken tiles that had already broken in the car. It was exchanged, but I had to pick it up myself because it was very busy. Back in the store, 4-5 colleagues were having coffee, but unfortunately, they didn't have time to deliver the tiles. We unpacked everything, and then we discovered it was a central heating system instead of an electric radiator. That's how it was listed on the invoice, according to Van den Berg. The invoice shows the name of the product; it doesn't specify whether it's electric or not. However, an additional payment was required to convert the unit. The Van den Berg technician would then come and cap the heating off once everything was finished. Unfortunately, the entire heating system couldn't be replaced, even though it was new in its original box. The contractor then finished the bathroom. When we were finished, we had four bags of adhesive and three packs of tiles left over, covering approximately 12 square meters. When we called to ask if we could return these, the answer was that they didn't have them in stock and that the invoice stated that if they don't have them in stock, they won't accept returns, which contradicted what we had said during our conversation. I was able to return the adhesive bags, but if you do this at Van den Berg, be aware that they will retain VAT on returned goods. The technician eventually came to cap the heating, which was very helpful. Unfortunately, the treatment was less than pleasant. The technician came in, my wife barely managed to get out of the way, and he rushed upstairs and did his job. He left all the things he'd used and stormed out the door after explaining that he thought it was ridiculous that our contractor hadn't taken care of this. Our contractor didn't want to make any unnecessary mistakes and therefore refused to top up the heating, so Van den Berg offered to do it for us. All in all, we're very happy with our bathroom, and they provided the high-quality items you'd expect for the price. However, we found the service very poor. Even when asking questions, it really depends on which staff member you get. Next time, we'll definitely look elsewhere.

If you need bathroom advice, I'd recommend Van den Berg Tegels & Badkamers Schagen. We received excellent service. The staff were knowledgeable, practical, and very service-oriented. Something that's not always easy these days. Highly recommended!

We visited Paul van den Berg in Schagen. He immediately understood our needs and helped us with great patience, expertise, and humor. 😉 A fantastic company with extensive expertise. Even when we wanted some adjustments later on, he remained patient and friendly. Friendliness is paramount at this company; everyone is just as friendly. And Paul, we'll definitely be back to you in x years to buy a new bathroom. 😉 But for now, let's enjoy this one, because it's turned out beautifully!
