Disappointing experience with Teer Makelaars Beverwijk – lack of clear communication After months of preparation and discussion, our family had a disappointing experience with Teer Makelaars Beverwijk regarding the potential purchase of the retail property where my husband has been a tenant and entrepreneur for over 21 years. Earlier this year, Teer Makelaars approached him with the message that there was an opportunity to purchase the property as the current tenant. This was presented as a serious opportunity, and we did everything in our power to make this happen. We requested multiple mortgage quotes, had a professional appraisal performed, and accepted the proposed sales price. We were ready to complete the purchase. However, after months of communication, we unexpectedly received a message that the sale was not going ahead because the plans had changed and the property would be sold to a third party. This message came without further explanation or consultation, which surprised and disappointed us, both personally and professionally. What makes this situation particularly galling is that – as far as we know – the ultimate buyer is not interested in the retail space itself, but only in the apartment above. This raised questions for us about the motives behind the decision. We found the communication during this process to be inadequate. There was little transparency and no opportunity for an open discussion about the situation, even though this had a significant impact on us as business owners. We believe it's important to share our experience so that others are aware of the importance of clear agreements and good communication in such processes. We hope that Teer Makelaars will handle such processes and the people involved more carefully in the future.
