They are shameless thieves who will steal part of your deposit no matter what, using exaggerations or outright fabrications. When they ask you to return the apartment "clean," for them, "clean" means brand new. You should see the email they sent me about "how to clean the apartment"—absolutely surreal. Yet, when they handed me the apartment, it wasn't dirty, but it definitely wasn’t clean either. Everything was covered in dust, and I had to do a lot of cleaning on my first day. I had an issue with a glass panel on the terrace that accidentally broke—something that any home insurance would cover. But they refused to let the insurance pay for it and deducted the cost from my deposit instead. If I were you, I would never rent from these scammers. If they want to steal from tenants, they should steal from their fellow Dutch people—do they really think foreigners are fools? Son unos sinvergüenzas y ladrones que te roban sí o sí parte de tu fianza, por exageraciones o invenciones. Cuando te piden que entregues el piso limpio, para ellos "limpio" quiere decir NUEVO. Tendríais que ver el mail que me enviaron sobre "cómo limpiar el apartamento"… surrealista. Cuando ellos me entregaron el apartamento, no estaba sucio, pero tampoco limpio; todo estaba lleno de polvo y tuve que limpiar mucho el primer día que llegué. Tuve un problema con una mampara de la terraza que se rompió por accidente, algo que cubriría cualquier seguro de vivienda, pero no les dio la gana que lo pagara el seguro y me lo descontaron de mi fianza. Si fuera vosotros, nunca alquilaría con estos estafadores. Si quieren robar a inquilinos, que roben a sus holandeses... ¿Se piensan que los extranjeros somos tontos? ¿Pensabais que os iba a salir gratis robarme?

My viewing appointment was canceled at short notice and unexpectedly without any real reason. When I wanted to introduce myself in person, with all the documents (which they've already received) in my luggage (income statements, ID, resume, etc.), I was strictly rejected "because I have two companies abroad." Ms. Westerdijk behaved arrogantly towards me, showed no interest in my concerns and refused me to contact the managing director. Despite my credible references and disclosure of my economic connections, they did not take me seriously. I am active in the financial industry myself and have worked with various real estate agents, but I have never experienced such arrogance!

Unfortunately, I've had bad experiences with this real estate agent. They don't respond for several days after a viewing. When I call, they say they'll wait to cancel other candidates until the chosen one has passed the screening. I think this is stringing people along, but apparently, that's justifiable in this market. I find it a bit antisocial.
