They are probably a nice real estate agent if you want to sell your own home, but do not do business with them if you care about your fellow human beings (buyers). In our case, the terms were suddenly changed unilaterally, two weeks after a verbal agreement. This caused us a lot of headaches and extra costs. All this was accompanied by a complete lack of understanding and terrible communication, including a failure to return calls (despite promises to be returned). This meant we were on the verge of withdrawing as buyers, after already being strung along for three weeks as ‘buyers’. As a seller, it is also nice not to face surprises. I doubt whether this real estate agent can guarantee that. In any case, I would never sell my house through this agent. Amazingly enough, the property is also still listed as ‘Sold subject to contract’ on Funda, 9 months after the transfer…

In my now-desperate search for a new home, I decided to look for a buyer's agent. Makelaar Idee (along with a few others) already scored very highly and quickly contacted me for an exploratory meeting at their office. That might sound obvious, but this was the first potential buyer's agent who wanted to meet with me right away. Most people meet by phone, which is less personal. Of all the conversations I had, with Andre, I got the most feeling that he really goes above and beyond. His network is also extensive, so he was able to advise me well, even outside of Groningen. And last but not least, they also offer financial advice, so he really considers what's financially feasible. He also offered more payment options than others. However, four days after my conversation, I suddenly received a call from another agent I'd bid on a property with, informing me that my offer had been accepted! Against all expectations. In the end, I didn't need Andre, but I know that if I ever find myself in a similar situation again, I will immediately contact Andre as my purchasing agent, because nothing is more stressful than the housing market these days.
