We engaged HBK Expat Consultants to prepare our joint tax return, for which we paid €275. Our situation was complex, so we relied on their expertise. In April, we prepared and filed the tax return together with HBK via Teams. In July, it turned out that HBK had filed the return incorrectly. After this error, we repeatedly requested HBK to correct it, but they refused to accept any responsibility. No rectification was offered, and no solution was offered. On the contrary, they stated that they would only re-file the return in exchange for a new payment of their hourly rate. This, despite the fact that it was their mistake. Fortunately, we were able to get a full refund through our legal expenses insurance, but it cost us unnecessary time, frustration, and administrative hassle. We paid for proper tax return assistance, but this was not provided. They are unprofessional and unreliable. Based on our experience, I warn others to be very cautious with HBK Expat Consultants.
