Very disappointing experience with mortgage advisor from Alpina Makelaars Our experience with the mortgage advisor from Alpina Makelaars regarding the mortgage application was downright frustrating and disappointing. From the very beginning, it was noticeable that he answered detailed questions only moderately. Instead of clear explanations or expert advice, we often received evasive answers with the message that we "just needed to have a little faith." Naturally, that is not at all what you want when making such an important financial decision. Most of the time during the conversations was spent complaining about his previous and current colleagues. It is highly unprofessional to complain about systems or people to your clients. Additionally, he initially tried to push a completely new mortgage with a different lender on us, instead of transferring the old mortgage. It was only because we, as clients, insisted on this that the better solution was ultimately chosen. As far as we are concerned, that is the world turned upside down. We expect expert advice, where we, as clients, are advised on the best and most advantageous choice. So, we had to figure that out ourselves and had to stand our ground to have this advantageous option investigated. What followed was a series of negligence and poor communication. After the mortgage process started, we heard nothing for weeks until we reached out ourselves. It then turned out that there was an error in the bank's system, causing the application to be delayed – without us being notified of this. Errors and delays can happen, but failing to inform us about this is downright bad. Even after that, contact remained minimal to non-existent. Once again, we heard nothing for weeks, and only upon inquiry did it turn out that documents were expected from us – but no one had informed us of this. Due to this passivity and poor follow-up, the file suddenly had to be processed urgently, putting the date of the deed transfer at risk. The notary even warned that this date was likely no longer feasible. Even at scheduled contact times, the advisor did not respond. Ultimately, as a client—one week before the closing date—I called all the parties involved (mortgage advisor, bank, and notary) myself to maintain some control over the process and to make the urgency of the situation clear. In the end, everything worked out just barely at the very last moment, but this was entirely thanks to our own efforts. The entire process was sluggish, unprofessional, and lacked the necessary guidance one would expect from a real estate agent or mortgage advisor. Delays and mistakes are human, and that is not what we are disappointed about. It is the poor communication and negligence that we are downright angry about. Fortunately, there were a few colleagues at the office who spoke to us well on the last day and helped put pressure on the situation. In short: we absolutely cannot recommend Alpina. The lack of proactivity, minimal communication, and inability to maintain control over the process turned arranging our mortgage into a stressful and unnecessarily complicated experience.

When our fixed-rate mortgage expired, we weren't properly informed about the options for refinancing our mortgage or changing the mortgage type. After repeatedly calling with various questions, we were left no wiser. We didn't experience any helpfulness. This, in part, led us to make the wrong decisions. We believe De Leeuw breached its duty of care in this matter.
