I took out my mortgage through Philip van den Hurk. For €3,250, you expect professionalism and quality. The first application to the bank wasn't as discussed. Despite the information on my passport, my name (Nick instead of Mark) was still misspelled. Worst of all, they'd written my date of birth incorrectly and claimed I was entitled to a transfer tax exemption (which I wasn't). They then proceeded to argue with me (and later the notary) about this. The entire mortgage was designed with exemption in mind, a minor error costing a few thousand euros. After I complained about this, I received no response, only emails in which they tried to sell me all sorts of things. A few weeks later, the appraiser called to ask if I would pay my invoice. This is normally done through the intermediary, who forwards the invoice to the notary. In this case, they didn't, and once again, there were unexpected costs. I complained again, and again, received no response. Buro Philip van de Hurk should have paid me €3250 since I was doing their work for the entire process (except for the independent review).
