We had an extension built, intended as a care home for my elderly father. Dirk Bos was involved (even during the project) as a building inspector. The final inspection finally took place on April 24th. Agreements were made on when the identified issues should be completed, and the handover report stated (with the consent of all parties) that everything would be ready by May 4th at the latest. You'd think it would be a piece of cake. Unfortunately, the contractor started work and used materials with a long drying time. As a result, the deadline was missed, with all the ensuing consequences. Because, as he stated, "he couldn't do anything about the drying time." We disagree. The contractor could and should have used materials to meet the agreed-upon deadline. These materials were readily available. We presented the problem to Dirk Bos. His response: "I don't know if it will be dry before then. That depends on the substrate. If it's dry and properly applied, it's fine." Dirk was being very noncommittal with this.
