We engaged the Van Weert company to fell a diseased 130-year-old beech tree (1.30m trunk diameter and a crown height of 22m!). This was a risky undertaking because the tree was located close to our historic mansion. It was also a complex project, as a temporary bridge had to be built over the garden ditch to the lawn for the transport of machinery and materials. We wanted to prevent damage to the driveway, garden, old hedges, and valuable fencing. After felling, the lower trunk and its roots also had to be milled down to below ground level. Two other tall historic trees were also pruned, and a crown anchor was installed. The Van Weert team completed the job with flying colors. Well-equipped with modern machinery and equipment, they possess insight, experience, and craftsmanship, and, crucially, a serious focus on safety and environmental risks. They worked meticulously, and everything was cleaned up and left neatly. The owner himself participated and led the way.
