As another reviewer also wrote, I was an ambassador for this firm until recently. I referred many clients after they had helped me so well in the first few years. However, in the last 3-4 years, AKRH's service has been disastrous. While it's normally said that an accountant makes you money, AKRH has already cost me a lot of money several times. For example, at the end of December 2022, the 2021 annual accounts were prepared with difficulty (and later, it turns out, with many errors), simply because the tax authorities threatened fines. One of those errors was the complete lack of inventory (properly, proactively, and delivered on time), which in turn caused problems for us during an acquisition process. After a financial colleague left, colleagues blamed him for it within two weeks. After properly discussing a whole laundry list of problems (e.g., incorrect calculations in the managing director's salary, simple incorrect bookings, mismatched current accounts) and requesting an improvement plan, I was given nothing. In short: I would strongly advise looking for a professional company with well-organized processes. Our switch to another company was a real relief.

After many years and a good relationship with the accounting firm we started with 20 years ago, ToyPro c.s. and I decided to look for a different firm. Maintaining records, filing tax returns, preparing annual accounts, and all that stuff is what you'd expect. What I was looking for, and found at AKRH, was not just to record those figures but to bring them to life for me. An objective and neutral pair of eyes that observes and identifies issues. A regular, good conversation with a genuine focus on your figures—that's what I found at AKRH.

As a former ambassador for this firm and (current) client, I'd like (potential) clients to take my experience to heart: "Think before you leap." I've been a satisfied client for a long time, even referring several companies, but mistakes were made and agreements broken, which eventually led to heated discussions and, slowly but surely, a breach of trust on my part. I indicated my intention to terminate our collaboration in the long term as soon as switching to another administrative firm was possible (you don't just do that). Shortly afterward, the surprising announcement (see below) came that he unilaterally wanted to discontinue services or propose a price increase from approximately €125 to €450 per month. Both of these are not established/valid according to his own Terms and Conditions, website, rules of engagement (price based on the number of purchase invoices), and order confirmation. There's also no notice period. My conclusion: if you're a critical client who, in his opinion, isn't performing sufficiently, he changes his own rules. An accounting firm should be reliable, solid, and the foundation of an organization, but Roel Hermans clearly fell short in that regard. Changing accountants isn't something you do easily. Below are copies of two emails from him. Email 1 concerns his unilateral termination (with immediate effect), where "my threat" is to share the customer experience and post reviews, which is my right as a customer. Email 2 concerns the announcement that he wants to discontinue the service. Email 1: ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Dear Ivo For the last time, we are canceling the subscription as of December 31, 2019. Until then, we will continue providing services under the current terms. If you decide to terminate earlier, we will accept that. If we suffer any damage as a result of your threats, we will take appropriate action and discontinue the service immediately. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Email 2 Hi Ivo Strange that you're shocked by this. We already told you this in January? That's almost a year in advance, isn't it? I understand that this is frustrating for you. We're clearly struggling with the administration of your sole proprietorship. If we were to continue the subscription on January 1st, the monthly fee would be €450 excluding VAT. If you're willing to pay this amount, we can discuss a continuation; otherwise, it really won't work. If you'd like to discuss this further, I'll also provide you with a clear explanation of how this €450 is calculated; it's not out of the blue.

I'm very satisfied with the services of Roel Hermans Administrative Office. Professional, personal contact, short lines of communication, and good advice. A big plus is the software they use: we no longer need to keep receipts; they're sent to them via an app, invoices are emailed and automatically imported, and the administration is always accessible via an online dashboard. I highly recommend this administrative office!
